Dine and Dash
Has anyone ever actually witnessed someone do this? Sure we've all heard about it, but it wasn't until tonight, at around 2am at Denny's on Mathilda in Sunnyvale (actually, it turns out there are two Denny'ses on Mathilda...but this is the one closer to El Camino), that I actually saw it happen. Two girls that encompassed everything about the phrase "bad night" walked in and asked to have the menus removed because they already knew what they wanted. Both were wearing jeans and lacy tank tops, and both had wet hair and streaked eye makeup. One girl sat barefoot. They ordered whatever it is they got (some Chinese chicken salad looking thing, I think), ate it, and then suddenly got up and just walked out. Well, quickly walked out I should say. I looked over and said, "Did they just eat and run?" The table next to us (two guys) seemed to have caught this action as well and we all kind of had this look of shock. People actually do that??
The best part is when some of the Denny's employees ran outside to try and catch them. I don't think they ever did...bummer. That would've been so funny. One of the guys at the table next to us was like, "Damn, if you're gonna do that...at least have the car running." Hahaha.
Diners in the early AM are a great source of entertainment.
